Explore custom gear upgrades, world activities and rewards unique to Arcana.
Tempering
Temper any piece of gear up to five times. Each upgrade increases its stats by 5%, for a total of 25%. Use an upgrade sigil or a duplicate of the item.
Earn sigils from dungeons, battlegrounds, arena, world PvP, world quests, rare spawns, recycling and more.
Common sigils expire after 24 hours, so put them to use instead of saving them. Rarer versions never expire and can be sent to other characters on your account.
Tempering sigils
Affixes
Rare-quality gear and above receive a small, random bonus stat, giving each drop a little extra potential.
Reroll the bonus with an Arcana Recalibration Sigil, earned from many of the same activities as tempering sigils. These sigils are slightly rarer.
Ascension
Rediscover gear from older content by ascending it to level 80. A forgotten drop could become one of your strongest items, opening up new best-in-slot possibilities.
Ascension tokens mainly drop in raids of their matching tier, giving older Wrath raids a lasting place in your progression.
Recycling
Bags full after a raid with your bots? Recycle unwanted gear for a chance at useful goods instead of selling or disenchanting everything.
The average item level of the gear determines the possible rewards, with a chance to receive bonus items too.
Heirloom
Bring your favourite raid gear along on your next character’s adventure. Collect eligible epic raid items, Tier 1–10 set pieces and legendary weapons to begin unlocking their custom heirloom versions.
Open the Heirloom tab in Arcana Item Upgrades to browse your collection and add progress using gold, emblems, Wintergrasp Marks or Arcana Dogtags. You can also destroy spare copies of the original item for extra progress.
Progress is shared across your account. Once an heirloom reaches 100%, your characters can create free, permanent copies. Their stats and effects grow with your character from level 1 to 80.
War Mode
Enable War Mode and face surprise attacks from opposing-faction bots. Watch for red dots on your minimap and come prepared. These well-equipped enemies can put up a fight.
Defeat them to reveal a chest on their corpse containing pieces of their gear and other useful loot.
World Quests
Take on world quests in every zone for more experience than regular quests and useful rewards for your journey.
With a 30-minute cooldown, there is always a reason to head back out and explore.
Dailies & Weeklies
Visit the daily and weekly quest giver in any major city. More quests become available as you level up.
Quests and rewards are random, so check in regularly. Your next visit might reveal something especially valuable.
Arcana Expeditions
Daily and three-day expeditions send you into a randomly selected Classic or TBC dungeon. Pick up the quests from the daily and weekly quest giver.
Expedition bosses drop ascended versions of their usual gear. Item level 200 is the most common, but you may also find much stronger versions.
Unlocking an heirloom for the first time with ascended gear from Expeditions instantly grants 50% progress toward that heirloom.
